Profane Legacy

Session 110
The Epilogue

Rey’s long awaited Battle of the Bards takes place in Hasamidat, drawing hundreds from across Ahlim. Ramas the Mime goes up against Alexis and The Outsider purposefully loses the duel, graciously accepting defeat. Rey goes up against Willem Gold-Eye in the grand finale. Rey uses her Scroll of the Try-hard to perform immaculately, defeating Willem Gold-eye soundly, despite him putting up a good fight. He is a sore loser, and storms off the stage.

The Spectre:
You see two sailing vessels sailing across a bright ocean. You recognise the vessels as Ajaakor’s Hangman and The Gray Blade. Aboard you see Jamal, in the Crows’nest, Tolun the minotaur chimera, Captain Lily-Tydes, and The Spectre. Aboard the Gray Blade you see a baby Bronze Dragon, running about happily, this is the young Green Princess. The Spectre steps out onto the side of The Gray Blade and produces The Moaning Diamond from inside his coat. You see the water begin to shift and glow, and you faintly see the glowing outline of two pyramids beneath the water.
Sahri, Angel of Fire:
You see the burnt, ashy form of Sahri, now known as Zariel, upon a throne in Avernus. She wears an impressive suit of armour and her featherless, skeletal wings curl behind her. A pair of Devils bring a humanoid into her throneroom. They throw down a confused Dark Elf at her feet. The dark elf, known as Brutalitops the Magician, asks where they are, until they look up to see their nemesis, Zariel sitting before them.
Rakshasa:
Rakshasa strides in a leisurely pace through a humid, decadent palace. She’s wearing sheer clothing, left open to her navel. She has elaborate jewellery strung up in her hair and horns and large, dark wings curled up on her back. She approaches a tall, dark-purple skinned figure with some horns protruding from their head and an enticing smile on their handsome features. She leans up to whisper in their ear, and the smile on Graz’zt’s face widens perversely.
Rey
Standing on an enormous stage in front of a crowd of thousands, Rey produces her mythic flute with a flourish. The Stars are in the sky above and helpful bardic colleagues are assisting in crowding amazing lighting and smoke effects around the stage. Rey begins to perform her set, igniting the crowd into furious passion. She performs the same set she used to win the Battle of the Bards, and finishes with an encore for the delighted crowd.
Tsuki:
Examining the blue markings that wind up her arms, Tsuki crouches just out of sight in a city alleyway. She frowns until she hears a purr and a small figure rubbing up against her. Tsuki’s frown fades and she pets Jinx with her good hand. She puts her glove back on, obscuring Father Llymic’s marking and looks up to see a familiar figure with a grinning masque hanging from their waist. Tsuki strides off into the city with them, on another mission, smiling as she speaks with The Outsider, with Jinx walking between them.
Ghesh:
Standing at the altar in front of Ajaakor’s church, Ghesh holds hands with Rava, smiling at her. Alucard seems to be conducting the ceremony, at the wedding between Ghesh and Rava. In the crowd are the faces of their families and Ghesh’s old ally Garel-kai, the Genasi. The other members of the Warriors of The West are present in the crowd. Even Dragonlord Ashekani has made an appearance, in a polymorphed human form. We see Rava and Ghesh kiss, to the roar of the assembled crowd.
The Seer
The Seer walks with a cane through her church in Meridom, smiling at the assembled Church-goers. Unvicles the Star-Knight is giving a sermon and he stops when he sees her in the crowd. She puts her finger to her lips and he continues. She sits down beside a young gnome. She points to a newly made stained-glass window depicting Rey, with her angel wings outstretched. The gnome nods and begins to talk excitedly, looking from The Seer to the image of Rey. The two go back to listening to the sermon. The Seer smiles contently.
Ramas:
Decorated with black and white face-paint Ramas performs silently in a small square in Hasamidat to a crowd of fascinated onlookers. He’s performing geometeric movements in a deliberate, expressive way, using his white gloves to great effect. As he finishes his performance the crowd claps and several throw coins into his black hat. Ramas looks startled for a moment as a small, red-scaled figure throws in a gold coin. Kirtul the kobold nods to the once-farm boy and strides off into the city.
Reverence:
We see Reverence striding throughout the streets of Hasamidat, her polished armour gleaming in the sun. She has a frown on her face and seems to be looking for something. She stops when she hears a sound and turns down a side alley. She sees a young girl, seemingly lost and crying. She crouches down and comforts the girl, asking her about a small doll she’s clutching. The girl shows that she’s carrying a stitched-together Sahri doll, complete with a small wooden axe (blunt of course). We see Reverence deliver the girl to her thankful family, who seem distraught at having lost her. They offer Reverence to share dinner with them but she politely declines. We see Reverence striding throughout the streets of Hasamidat, her armour gleaming orange and pink in the sunset, she has a smile on her face.
Gerald
Finally, We see Gerald, a young adult griffin racing through tall green grass, swaying in the wind. Beside the griffin we can see a brightly dressed gnome running along, smiling and offering encouragement. The pair race past a huge Flail snail, with several smaller flail snails, who look up from grazing to watch. The griffin begins to flap his wings furiously, lifting off the ground for a moment before landing back down. He tries again, and this time gains lift-off. He soars into the blue sky, flying amidst the clouds. He looks at the ground below him with his brilliant golden eyes and screeches in victory.

The Ruler of The Nine Hells

Rakshasa communicates with Graz’zt, saying she’s going to kill Invadiah, the ruler of the Sixth layer, and that she’s considering taking her place. Graz’zt says he does indeed want Invadiah dead, but does not wish Rakshasa to be apart from him. Rakshasa agrees to stay in The Abyss, with Graz’zt who says he’s claimed the title of Prince of Demons. He says that when Rakshasa returns from her mission she will become a Demonlord, and the Demon Queen of the Succubi. Sahri decides that the group need this bargain, and for the greater good, she will take up Baalphegor’s deal, and become ruler of the first layer, Avernus.
The party have a Heroes’ Feast before they go to the Nine Hells and some art is made of this historical event. Ajaakor and Und appear to bolster the party before their fateful day. Und seems upset that Sahri, Angel of Fire is going to become a fallen angel and an Archdevil. He places a hand on Sahri’s shoulder and says that the only thing less tolerable than Sahri’s betrayal is Tiamat, so he supposes he will live with the outcome of tomorrow. The Outsider makes an appearance, granting Tsuki good luck. The Seer gives final power and knowledge to the group, wishing Rey good luck, casting True Polymorph on Alucard, and granting Sahri Foresight and the knowledge of how to use Sky-Sunder for its intended purpose.
The group then move to another room so that Sahri can sign Baalphegor’s contract in the presence of Asmodeus.
The group are then brought to Cania by Baalphegor, into the ice fortress of Mephistar. Baalphegor briefly explains that she’s a Baatorian, a being that is an extension of the plane itself, not the same as the Devils that Tiamat populated this place with. As such, she has an understanding of the fabric of the Plane that Tiamat lacks. She pulls the party into the earth, and then pulls them upwards to the sixth layer, Malbolge. The group emerge into the prison-fortress of Invadiah, the fallen angel. To Baalphegor’s surpiseTsuki manages to briefly merge with the plane again, emerging from the wall to use Deathstrike on a surprised Invadiah. The group spring on her and her fallen angelic followers, much to Invadiah’s anger and confusion. Chains in the room come to life to grapple the party while the angels fire arrows and unleash torturous attacks on them. Rakshasa finally plunges Wave of Sorrows down Invadiah’s throat, permanently killing the Archdevil, and gaining revenge for her betrayal of Graz’zt.
The party are then brought back to Cania by Baalphegor, she says her part is over and that the group must succeed. They move on into Nessus and are confronted by a group of Pit-Fiends loyal to Asmodeus who say they’ll assist in getting the group to Malsheem, Tiamat’s fortress. The group begin to fly there, but soon become aware that Tiamat has noticed their presence. The pit fiends pick up their pace as the devils loyal to Tiamat begin to muster a defence against the heroes. Fireballs begin to strike at the party before they dive inside the fortress. While the Pit Fiends and their strike force hold off reinforcements, the group race into Tiamat’s Throne Room.
On the way they are harmed by several traps but manage to arrive just as Tiamat summons Gallard the Betrayer and Mephistopheles to her. Asmodeus is also present and smiles at the group. Tiamat angrily demands to know what the group think they’re doing here. Rey tells her that she was doomed to fail from the start, for her cultivation of a back-stabbing and dependant individuals. As Tiamat readies a retort, Sahri summons Sky-Sunder to her hands, as Tiamat falls silent, recognising the God-Killing weapon. With that, Rey casts her Epic Level spell, wracking her foes with Radiant energy. A vicious final battle begins, with Tiamat casting Psychic Scream, channeling the pain of those her Hells torture. Mephistopheles then casts Meteor Swarm, followed by the same spell Rey cast, but with devastating Necrotic Energy. Gallard uses his Vorpal Sword to slice at Sahri, at one point almost cutting off Sahri’s head. Sahri only manages to survive by using her Epic Boon of Invulnerability. Tiamat is soon betrayed by Asmodeus as he strikes her with his Ruby Rod. She angrily insists that the two had a deal, to which Asmodeus replies that she should have read the fine print. Tiamat, upon being struck by a bolt from Tsuki, grows angrier still, calling Tsuki a traitor. Ghesh also casts his epic level spell, causing radiant energy to burn Tiamat. Partway during the fight Tiamat transforms into her two-headed dragon form, and scorches the group with her two breath weapons. Finally she decides to cast HER Epic Level spell: Tiamat’s Soul-Stealer on Tsuki. Tsuki succumbs to its effects, feeling her soul pulled from her body, which Tiamat devours.
At a crucial moment, Ghesh uses Divine Intervention on Tiamat, summong an avatar of Ajaakor to almost tear her apart.
Sahri struggles to use Sky-Sunder to its full potential, Tiamat tenaciously resisting her incoming death. As she grows more wounded, black oil continues to leak from her body, apparently her blood. The group finally injure her enough that she reverts to humanoid form, but she continues to blast and strike at the party. As a sign of respect to Baalphegor, the group spares Mephistopheles, leaving him unconscious. Rey and Rakshasa also fall unconscious, and Rakshasa dies, expiring on the cracked marble of Tiamat’s throne-room.
As a last-ditch effort to cease his healing of her enemies, Tiamat casts Feeblemind on Ghesh. However his Ring of Spell-Turning reflects the spell back on to Tiamat. She succumbs to the psyche-breaking spell and loses the ability to cast spells or speak. This is the end for her as Rey is revived and uses Wish to guide Sahri’s final strike. With the Fate-Sight of The Seer, Sahri strikes Tiamat with Sky-Sunder, finally destroying her. In her final moments Tiamat shakes her head and screams incoherently as she is killed.
Her Astral Spark is severed from her and she turns into a puddle of bubbling tar. The Astral Spark floats for a moment in the middle of the assembled group. Rey reaches out to touch it and is cosumed by fire, turning to dust. The Spark floats for a moment more, before being drawn into Asmodeus’s Ruby Rod. His form glows and increases in size as fire spreads about him. Gallard charges him, but is tossed aside by Asmodeus, killed by the new ruler of Nessus. Asmodeus resurrects Rey, congratulating her for her attempt at Godhood and wishing her better luck next time. The Seer reclaims Sky-Sunder and Sahri realises she is now set to become an Archdevil and will never leave The Nine Hells again. The group say their Goodbyes and Ghesh teleports them and their escorts to the material plane.

Session 108
The Gravedigger's Insight

The group join a celebration, feasting, and discussing what they’ve just done, stopping Zehan from ever awakening to destroy Ahlim. Following this, The Spectre departs to his crew, due to his lack of interest in taking down Tiamat. The rest of the party go to The Seer’s Tower to discuss taking down Tiamat, ruler of the Nine Hells, permanently. The Seer says that Rey‘s plan of finding out how to defeat Tiamat by speaking with Zehan has a catch. Zehan himself, even in his slumbering state has a powerful mind and subconscious which could destroy Rey. Instead, The Seer suggests communing with a shard, or a facet of this subconscious. She says she’s had visions of a Grave-Digging woman, who seems to be part of Zehan, somehow. Rey confirms that she’s seen this woman before, and asks how she could communicate with her. The Seer explains the prison that the Annerians and her constructed contains several blue Vision-Crystals which could conceivably grant access to this Grave-Digger. The group take their Spell-Jammer and fly out far beyond the Mountains of Witnessing, in what remains of the Dread-Marshes. They leave their ship hovering above the surface of the bizarrely discoloured water above Zehan’s Prison. They swim down through the water and soon come across the colossal, sinuous form of Dagon. His form shifts constantly, displaying traits of many underwater creatures, but always keeping its tentacles. He talks with the group, expressing disappointment that The Angel of Water is not with them. The group ask him about himself, and he confirms that he is an Elder Evil, supposedly the favoured son of Tharizdun. He estimates that no more than two other Elder Evils will ever escape from Zehan’s Nightmarescape, as he once did. They ask him what his goals are, but his motives seem to be mysterious, although he does claim the title of Emperor of The Depths. He warns them about another Elder Evil, The Great Mother, who also escaped when Zehan briefly woke up more than four thousand years ago. He wishes them luck and swims away into darkness.
The group continue down, coming across Zehan’s prison, which resembles and enormous crystal city. They find an opening into the crystal maze, glowing purple and pink. They see a cracked crystal, with shards of various sizes floating in the still water. Rey guesses that this may have been Caiphon’s prison before he escaped, or was freed. As they continue on, they encounter several other cultists still imprisoned, seemingly asleep inside outcrops of crystal. However, a cluster of eyes, reflected many times over soon appear in the crystals around the group. The Great Mother begins to attack them, using eye-rays, reflected and refracted through the crystals. The group attempt to hide but she finds them, so they attempt to blind her with Sunlight. It seems to work as she screeches and disappears.
The party continue on, eventually finding a Vision-Crystal, which Rey uses. She sees the elderly grave-digging woman, finishing off the cross-stitching she was doing. She seems to be able to speak Deep-Speech luckily and is surprised to see someone else there with her. Rey finds out that she’s digging these graves for her relatives and descendants who were consumed by Zehan. Rey eventually finds out her name is Morticia Falconrun and she forged Sky-Sunder to defeat Zehan. She also crafted a breast-plate with several gems built into it to stabilise Sky-Sunder’s effects. Unfortunately, Zehan striked her, destroying the breast-plate, injuring her and unbalancing the weapon. She gave Sky-Sunder to her nephew and Squire, Abel Falconrun who then fled their world, Karaldis, with the rest of their family. Morticia however was consumed by Zehan and has dwelt in his nightmarish subconscious. She shows Rey the schematics and notes to use Sky-Sunder and build a stabilising breastplate, which she memorises. Rey tells her that one of her descendants, Aliza, still lives and that every descendant of her they’ve met has been a great warrior. Morticia thanks her for the company and wishes her luck, saying that Tyranny must be opposed whenever and wherever it appears.
With the information they need to defeat Tiamat, the group return to the Tower of Hariolation. The Seer suggests they use Mithral, Obsidian, and Diamond as the gems for the breastplate and says she will find them. In the meantime the party go to collect an escort for an incursion into the Nine Hells. They manage to convince Azzainen, Joan Fairhelm, Turiel Dust-Born, and Evangeline to assist them.
The gems are found and Und forges them into The Vengeant’s Platemail. The party then have a meeting with Asmodeus, Bensozia, and Alloces. They discuss the group’s plan and Alloces says he has won the friendship of Baalphegor due to his closeness with Mephistopheles. Asmodeus says that Tiamat has been very cautious around Baalphegor, Mephistopheles’ wife, because no-one seems to know where she’s come from or the extent of her abilities. At this point, Baalphegor appears, a beautiful devil of medium height, with a dress made of inter-locking sheets of metal. Baalphegor says that, like Asmodeus she wants Tiamat off the throne, but says she’s content to remain in the 8th layer, Cania. When asked why she explains that she’s content to have The Hells run smoothly and does not desire to rule. She offers her assistance in transporting the party through the layers quickly and without Tiamat’s notice. However, she says she’ll require something from the group in exchange. She says she desires an undisclosed future favour from Ghesh, Sahri, Angel of Fire to rule a layer, or Rakshasa to rule a layer. She gives the group a contract to read and sign, if they wish.

Session 107
The Anathema

Having prepared for the coming ritual and gained the assistance of their angelic brethren, the party begin. The anathematic gems begin to orbit the Sphere of Annihilation and they start to crack. As the gems break, shadows pour out of them, forming into Avatars of The Anathema. The avatar of Vitha takes the form of a huge snake, with multiple heads, the avatar of Piro a shadow dragon, and Satief as a gargantuan, vicious centipede. The group begin to attack them, weathering their maddening, fearful presence. Vitha says that she made Rakshasa who she is, Piro says that Tsuki will pay for her meddling, and Satief says that Sahri, Angel of Fire made the wrong decision by turning away from him. Piro is the first to be defeated, as their form is rent in two by Rey and temporarily seems to show portals to other planes of existence. One is an enormous prison and the other is a dark series of tunnels. Vitha is Hurled through Hell by Rakshasa, temporarily disappearing into her gem. When Vitha reappears she is destroyed, seeming to vanish into the Demiplane of Dread.
Satief rampages through the group, devouring Alucard, then Sahri, Angel of Fire, followed by Rey, and finally Rakshasa. Inside Satief, grasping skinless arms grab at those inside, preventing from them from escaping. Ghesh and The Spectre are the only ones not swallowed and still conscious and cautiously harry Satief. Rey weathers the attacks against her, reviving Rakshasa. Sahri, however, pulls herself free from Satief. She states that she made the right choice and slices Satief down the middle, freeing rey, Rakshasa, and the remains of Alucard. Satief is destroyed, revealing a volcano filled with fortresses and a series of metallic cubes floating through nothingness.
As the final avatar of The Anathema is destroyed the gems disappear into the sphere, disintegrating. The Sphere then implodes, leaving discolouration on the ground underneath it. The angels cheer and help restore the party to health.
With this act the group have prevented Zehan the Destroyer from ever awakening.

Session 106
The Ritual of Annihilation

Alucard, knowing he’s in danger of having his soul stolen, uses Dimension Door to escape The Void Reaper’s Grasp. The two remaining Bodaks pelt Rey and Ghesh with arrows, bringing them close to death. The Void Reaper absorbs the Spirit Queens’energy to replenish his own, after a series of attacks from Ghesh and The Spectre. Rakshasa falls and is risen many times, managing to deal damage with spells between bouts of unconsciousness. She manages to use Hurl Through Hell on The Void Reaper, who returns to a flurry of attacks, destroying his form. His minions continue to fight, but with their leader gone, they don’t prove much of a challenge.
The group investigate Blackrazor and realize it is a powerful sentient weapon that contains Sahri, Angel of Fire and Tsuki‘s soul. They discover that only a Wish Spell can free the souls trapped within, but they can’t figure out how they would destroy the sword.
The group rest, and the unnatural shadows disappear from the walls of the fortress. After she’s recuperated her strength, Rey frees Sahri and Tsuki’s souls from the sword. Ghesh then restores them to life, sealing the wounds in their chests.
The Spectre sees to the masterless Sphere of Annihilation and gains control of it, with the help of the Talisman of The Sphere. The group realise they’ve assembled all the components necessary to defeat The Anathema and call upon their Spelljamming ship to bring them hastily to The World Council.
They travel to the uninhabited Salisan Badlands and with the help of Vishkanya, as well as their fellow angels they prepare the ritual taught to them by Khalida aka Lady Midnight aka Tiamat.
Rey and The Spectre deduce that it will enable them to defeat The Anathema but may have strange consequences, such as summoning Fiends, altering the landscape, or creating a huge release of energy. Nevertheless, with their Angelic allies bolstering them and performing the ritual, the party prepare to fight whatever methods The Anathema use to defend themselves.

Session 105
The Void Reaper

Rakshasa blasts down the doors and the group see a chamber full of swirling spirits and The Void Reaper lying slumped against an altar. Blackrazor is embedded in his chest and a Sphere of Annihilation is hovering behind him, like a dark halo. The swirling mist coalesces into the form of Lamassu, the Sphinx of Suphinhotep. The Void Reaper pulls Blackrazor out of his chest and floats to his feet.
A harsh and lengthy battle begins, with Sahri, Angel of Fire and Tsuki rush into the room, and it immediately begins to sap their strength. The rest of the group stay outside and are attacked by the enslaved spirit of Lamassu, who roars at them. Bodaks appear out of small alcoves, bearing down on Sahri and Tsuki. The spirits of a long-dead king and queen also appear, sucking away Sahri’s Vitality. The Void Reaper Curses Sahri and begins to slash at her with Blackrazor. Rey, having transformed into a dragon, engages the rogue sphinx. Sahri is stabbed through the chest after a vicious but short fight and her soul is stolen from her. Her lifeless body drops to the ground. The bodaks and spirit monarchs turn on the rest of the group. The Void Reaper, transferring his curse to Ghesh begins to target the cleric. Tsuki falls unconscious, and The Spectre, seeing the battle turning against them, teleports the group some distance away. Tsuki too, has her soul taken, and the rest of the party attempt to hastily recuperate.
Facing down a narrow corridor, the group ready their defenses, knowing that their foes are rapidly approaching. Lamassu appears first, but is frozen in place by fear due to Rey. The spirits and bodaks appear next, but are stunned by The Spectre. Finally, The Void Reaper appears, throwing Eldritch Blasts at a barrier built by The Spectre and at the party members.
The battle moves into the middle of the corrider, centred on Rey’s Dragon form. The Void Reaper knocks Ghesh and Rakshasa unconscious and knocks Rey out of her dragon form. When he begins to suffer injuries he absorbs the spirits of his followers, reducing the size of his entourage but replenishing his strength.

Session 104
The Shadows in the Walls

As the group begin to rest, a large bodak ascends a set of stairs and begins to attack them. From the wall behind the party several angelic spirits appear, unfortunately enslaved by The Void Reaper. From the shadowy gap in the corridor a shadow Behir pulls itself free, before breathing lightning-infused darkness at the group. As each angel is defeated it thanks the party for ending its pain. Ghesh finally manages to destroy the behir but brings part of the fortress down on top of himself in doing so.
The group finish their rest and proceed down further into the fortress. The darkness in the walls attacks them, draining their vitality. Soon though, the unnatural darkness begins to fade, seemingly retreating further into the ruin. The party then come across an old, sturdy set of double doors. The doors have images of Lamassu, the guardian of Suphinhotep on them. Tsuki, using her Truesight looks into the chamber ahead of them, seeing that it’s filled with dark spirits and at least one Bodak. Sahri, Angel of Fire attempts to open the doors and The Void Reaper begins to speak in a rasping, aged voice. Alucard asks the rest of the group what they know about The Void Reaper, and Rey and The Spectre explain as best they can.
They recall that The Void Reaper wields the legendary sword Blackrazor and has command over a Sphere of Annihilation, which they require to defeat The Anathema.
They remember that The Void Reaper rampaged through Suphinhotep many centuries ago and killed Lamassu, it’s ruler. He was supposedly an elvish warrior-mage at one point although he is likely something much worse now.

Session 103
The Lost Souls

The group heal one another on the stairs, in the wake of the Bodak’s assault. The ceiling above them gives way, bludgeoning them with debris and forcing them deeper into the fortress. They see that black mist is seeping from the cracks in the walls, pooling about their feet. Tsuki goes ahead to explore, noticing that whispers are coming from the black mist, in a chorus of languages she doesn’t recognise. She sees one of the escaped Bodaks up ahead, leaning into the mist, seemingly listening to it. A shadow forms behind Tsuki, speaking in a sad and regretful tone. It follows her back to the group, and is soon joined by many more shadowy figures. The Spectre speaks telepathically to the shadows, realisng they are slaves to the one who killed them and took their souls, The Void Reaper. He also realises that this place has been sealed from travel and communication. The group’s only way out is to defeat The Void Reaper, who supposedly dwells deep within the fortress. Another group of shadows appear, and these ones speak common. They seem to be the victims of The Void Reaper’s assault on Suphinhotep several centuries ago. Sahri, Angel of Fire notices that the shadows are fearful of Abyssal, recoiling when they hear it. Rakshasa is soon attacked by the Cleonese shadows, though they apologise, saying that they don’t want to do this.
A wearying fight begins, with the shadows draining the parties’ vitality from them. A second Bodak manifests from a shadowy gap in the wall and shoots at Sahri. When Sahri attempts to attack it, it disappears. Rey harries the shadows with spells and Tsuki pierces them with bolts. Alucard and Ghesh almost succumb to the strength draining affect of the shadows before they are finally destroyed. The group explore a series of nearby rooms, finding some old treasures, as well as a rune covered sword that quickly fades to mist.

Session 102
The Anathematic Gem

Demogorgon mocks the group, saying that they were fools to challenge The Prince of Demons, as he strikes at The Spectre and Sahri, Angel of Fire. Sahri, briefly dominated by Demogorgon, attacks Rey, knocking her unconscious. Rakshasa revives her quickly, however. Eventually Rey casts Wish, undoing Caiphon’s previous Wish. This rapidly drains the vitality from the parties’ foes, hastening their defeat. Caiphon and Demogorgon seem on the brink of death, until the red Anathematic Gem inside Demogorgon rises to the surface, infusing it’s host with angry red light. The voice of Satief echoes through the room, demanding that the combantants fight in Satief’s favoured form of melee. Only Rey manages to resist this call, everyone else is forced to resort to melee weapons, losing access to their other abilities. Demogorgon swells in size and Caiphon summons the rusted Anathematic Scythe. Nonetheless Vannakun is defeated, disappearing in a burst of flame. The other Balor is permanently destroyed, perishing in fire. Caiphon is also killed, his scythe disappearing into dust.
Soon the group is fighting only Demogorgon, emboldened by Satief’s power. Rey manages to Disintegrate him, and the Anathematic Gem falls to the floor beside Rakshasa and Tsuki‘s unconscious bodies. Rey realise that neither Vannakun or Demogorgon were truly killed, and that they were saved by their Demonic Talismans. The Spectre revives the fallen group members and Sahri places the Red Anathematic Gem into a Bag of Holding. The group, now in possession of all three Anathematic Gems, decide to go find a Sphere of Annihilation to destroy them. Ghesh teleports the party to their fortress, where Rey finds out the book she co-authored: "The Lifeweaver’s Legacy" has been published.
The group then travel to Suphinhotep and begin the three day walk to Rey’s fortress, and the final resting place of The Void Reaper and his sword Blackrazor.
The group arrive at an overhang near the fortress and see that it’s overgrown with vines and virtually crumbling. Sahri dives into one of the towers and collapses it. The masonry falls on her and she rolls down a ruined flight of stairs into the depths of the building. She comes face to face with several Bodaks, which begin to attack her. The group, sprouting their angelic wings, fly through the ruins to help her. Several of the Bodaks are destroyed and the rest disappear into the darkness below.

The Gaping Maw

The group purchase some of Sir Seillesmanne’s holy symbols in payment for his services. He promises to lead them to Demogorgon’s palace and the group begin on their way. The group soon hear a group of demons approaching and attempt to hide. Unfortunately Rakshasa, Sahri, Angel of Fire, and Sir Seillesmanne are spotted by the creatures. A battle begins, with the rest of the group leaping out of hiding to strike the Nalfhesnees, Barlgura, and Goristros. The demons all have two heads, which the goristro in particular are able to use to great effect. Rakshasa is knocked unconscious and Sir Seillesmanne is seemingly killed, disappearing in a flash of lights.
The group continue on their own to the palace, finding a secret entrance into it. They sneak through the palace, avoiding several groups of demons. They see that the palace is split in two, with one side looking dark and orderly, and the other side looking bright and chaotic.
They follow a red glow to Demogorgon’s chamber, seeing Caiphon, Vannakun, and Demogorgon there. Caiphon chastises the group, saying they’ve made a mistake by attempting to take the Red Anathematic Gem.
A battle begins, with magic being cast, countered, and then cast again. Caiphon uses an epic level level spell to severely injure the party, which Ghesh then heals using Mass Heal. Rey attempts a Fire Storm, but four counterspells later, the spell fails. Demogorgon strikes out with his glowing red eyes and his sickly tentacles, stunning, dominating, and injuring the party. Vannakun flies over to Ghesh and lashes out with anger, attempting to gain vengeance on the Angel who took the Stormblade from him.
